Internet Marketing DOES work

By admin | April 12, 2008

………….for everyone.

(Sara here).

But the hard part is cracking the first dollar, pound or yen.

Until that moment it’s really really hard to believe that you actually CAN make money online.

When I first started out online I had really low goals. This was because I knew myself and how my mind works, and realised that if I was going to succeed online my cynical little brain needed some proof and it neede dit pretty quicly before I got disillusioned and went off to do something else.

So I set a goal of a tenner - £10. About $20.

And I gave myself a month to do it in.

Suddenly the clouds parted and the sun shone through. Might have been something to do with the cheeky little red wine I was drinking at the time but I think - and still do - that it was because my goal suddenyl became achievable.

All of a sudden I wasn’t trying to make a living online, which is like standing at the bottom of a mountain looking up - I was just trying to earn enough for a bottle of vino or to put some petrol in the car. And what’s more I had a month to do it in. What could be easier.

So i started out in a pretty chilled out state of mind and started writing some articles, submitting them, posting on forums - the usual stuff. I was promoting some products as an affilite and writing some short reports that I sold for a few dollars each. It all seemed very nice and relaxed because my goal was a small one.

And i did it. If my addled memory serves I made perhaps $27 instead of the $20 I was aiming for but two things had happened that changed my life.

1. I now knew it WAS possible to make money online

2. I now knew HOW to do it.

Sure - I used the techniqes that everyone was taling about - article submissions, writing my own stuff, affiliate selling etc, but it worked.

So from there I concentrated on two aspects - what had worked to bring me the $27, and adding new elements to my earnings power. In short - I tried new stuff too.

If I’d set my goal at $500 I wouldn’t be writing this now - I’d be an employee somewhere.

Now that isn’t to say that setting a $500 goal won’t work for you - but it certainly wouldn’t have worked for me. It would have scared me off.

I guess the key is to know yourself. It’s like dieting or sex. You have to know what works for you.

    Great post, Sara/Tony.

I’m sure if a beginner reads and applies what has been said here, he will be much closer to his first dollar online!
